About Shimla & Manali
The Shimla–Manali circuit is Himachal Pradesh's most-travelled combination, linking two of North India's most iconic hill stations along the Beas River valley. The 265 km drive from Shimla to Manali (via Bilaspur, Mandi, and Kullu) is spectacular: passing apple orchards, pine and deodar forests, the Pandoh Dam reservoir, and the river gorges of the Beas. Shimla (2,206m) provides the colonial counterpart — Mall Road, Viceregal Lodge, the toy train — while Manali (2,050m) delivers the adventure: Solang Valley, Rohtang Pass, Hadimba Temple, and the raw Himalayan character of Old Manali. Most itineraries run 6–8 nights, spending 2–3 nights in Shimla before moving on to Kullu/Kasol and then Manali. This combination suits every traveller type — families, couples, adventure groups, and first-time Himachal visitors.
