About Ladakh
Ladakh is a union territory of India bordering Tibet and Pakistan, occupying a high-altitude cold desert at an average elevation of 3,500 metres. The region was part of the ancient Silk Road and retains a distinctly Tibetan Buddhist culture — over 100 monasteries (gompas) dot the landscape, from Hemis (the largest) to Thiksey, Alchi, and the clifftop Dhankar. Leh, the capital at 3,524m, is the gateway for most itineraries. Key natural highlights include Pangong Tso Lake (4,350m) — whose waters shift from blue to turquoise to green — Nubra Valley with its double-humped Bactrian camels and sand dunes, and Moriri Lake (4,522m). The region is only accessible by road from June to September; Leh Kushok Bakula Rimpochee Airport provides year-round air access.

How to reach Ladakh
The easiest access is by air — Leh Airport is served daily from Delhi (~1 hour), Mumbai, and several other cities. The iconic Manali–Leh Highway (490 km, 2 days) opens around late May and closes by October; the Srinagar–Leh Highway (434 km) opens slightly earlier. Altitude acclimatisation is essential: plan a rest day in Leh before sightseeing. Our packages include airport pickup in Leh and an acclimatisation day built into the itinerary.
